Vegan Döner Kebab on the Overtoom

Good news, vegan friends! There’s a new vegan snack spot in town 😀 Yesterday Kebabi served on a Pita 3.0 opened its doors for all you hungry kebab lovers. Of course Green Amsterdam couldn’t wait to taste this plant based Kebabi and rushed to the opening at the Overtoom.

Plant Based Snacking

Kebabi served on a Pita 3.0 is the first vegan kebab joint in the Netherlands, which arose from the owner’s “love for beer, döner kebab and animal welfare”. The owner has some experience in the vegan snack business, his other joint is the Vegan Junkfood Bar which already has a big fat vegan fan base. Can Kebabi served on a Pita 3.0 compete with the Vegan Junkfood Bar?

The Vegan Kebabi Menu

The answer is a big fat vegan YES. The menu is more compact than at VJFB because it’s all about the plant based kebab. You can either choose the ‘Döner Kebabi’ – made of spiced smoked soy kebab, salad, crispy fried onions, homemade hummus, shriracha and garlic sauce served on a fresh, home made pita – or you can go for the ‘Kapsalon/Loaded Fries’ – with the same soy kebab, salad, onions and sauces, but instead of a pita you get some super tasty ‘Waffle Fries’ with vegan cheese. All these ingredients give you the good old kebab experience – it so much tastes like the real deal, only fresher and less greasy.

Pingpong + Beer + Vegan Finger Food = ♡

The rest of the menu consists of finger foods like cheese spring rolls, nuggets, original bitterballen, hummus bitterballen and for the sweet tooth assorted baklava with syrup. For the beer lovers there are lots of speciality beers – on draft, like ‘Brouwerij ‘t IJ’ and bottled like ‘Two Chefs Brewing’ (both local breweries). Perfect if you first want to have some drinks, play some pingpong – yes, there’s a ping pong table in the back! – and have some bites on the side.
